Small release for albums with week there were mostly singles out there for now. Of course there's always the off chance i missed a album or a release. But nevertheless here are my favorite picks and thoughts on particular releases this week.
Mac Miller - 5 Dollar Pony Ride
A posthumously released single off the highly anticipated album Balloonerism teases a sound of what we may expect from the full album. This single gives a jazzy style with a
cool bass line likely played by Thundercat. It provides lyrics and feelings long time fans
have longed for and missed since the early departure of the rapper. If you are a long time
fan or new to the most dope family its sure to fill a void that has been felt.
Coco and Breezy - Everyday
A great listen, this music style usually isn't within my taste radar so it was a well
welcomed surprise. The concept im assuming is beautifully uplifting and listens like a wonderful morning meditation with a hypnotic beat behind it.
Ben Rector - I Got It Bad For You EP
Ben's newest EP shows this artists great range into a variety of music styles and instrumentation, while i couldn't connect to the first three songs personally his flair really shows. Track 4 -Feel, was something that i latched onto right away and connected with immediately from the drum hit, i think this ep truly has something for everyone and is a great introduction to Ben as an artist.
Mackenzie Porter, Jake Etheridge, Thelma & James - Happy Ever After You
This single is a gloriously heartbreaking back and forth lyricism. You find harmonization's that choirs dream of with hauntingly gorgeous instrumentation to back the vocals.
Estella - Adagio
God the thing i could write about this track would be a novel. Just beautiful sounds i cant
explain how this single felt to me. 10/10
Ringo Starr - Look Up
Ringo Starr you underrated genius. This album was a well welcomed surprise for this week. This bluegrass country attempt with collaborators not limited to Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle is highly recommended there is not a song on this album that does not deserve its flowers . I might even dare say this album blows Post Malones country attempt out of the water.
LiSA, Felix of Stray Kids - ReawakeR
This K-Pop single has come along at just the right time with the scene finally getting the
flowers it has deserved for many years. I found this song to be a great banger that its bound to end up on your new years workout playlist.
Blondshell -T&A
I am glad to see Blondshell really finding their footing and sound within this single. If you are brand new to Blondshell or this genre of music i highly suggest this single as it will put a taste in your mouth you won't be able to find anywhere else.
ANOTR- Care For You
This is my first time hearing this artist i found this single to have a groovy drumbeat with a thick bass line that really rounds out the sound and gives this song its long gorgeous legs. (if you cant tell by now i love drums and bass lines)
Ethel Cain - Perverts
Ethel Cain take a bow girl. This 4th album is perfectly timed with the Nosferatu release and matches a vibe one can only find within a universe of Midnight Mass style Gothicism.
While it may not be for everyone fans of this artist and style will feel like they are slowly losing their mind at night floating around the dimly lit candle halls of a soul crushing home.
Truly a work of art that won't be appreciated for the time it has been created, truly channels a feeling one may have reading Sylvia Plath or Virginia Woolf. This album deserves its whittled flowers.
Bad Bunny - DeBi TiRAR MaS FOToS
Benito swings for the fences with this album and absolutely clears it by a more than a mile. This glorious no skip album provided by the Puerto Rican is full of vibrancy and soul that can only be found within a Latino. There is so much artistry and style changes within this album it can only be described as a love letter to his roots and a truly lets him shine.
Aly & AJ - What It Feels Like
I truly believe with the rise of strong female artists like Chappell Roan, Aly and AJ will soon get the recognition that they have deserved for years. This single shows the maturity and growth that these artist have been working on for years. Highly recommend to fans old and new.
Joy Crookes, Vince Staples - Pass the Salt
As a long time Vince Staples fan i was interested in seeing what peaked his interest to feature on this track. I can whole heartly say Joy Crookes is that girl this song has everything and pulls you in immediately. Joy is already popular in the UK but i could definitely see her rising quickly in the Americas as well.
Chrysalis - do you?
I love love love this artist. If you are a fan of artists like Clairo and Beebadoobee , you should put Chrysalis on your radar. This single will scratch that indie earwig you've got easily and makes for a relaxing listen with great lyrics and instrumentation.
